Christmas ‘25

This Christmas felt different – in the best possible way.

It wasn’t louder, bigger, or more extravagant than years past. Instead, it was calm. Full. Grounded. The kind of Christmas that sinks into your bones and reminds you what the season is actually about.

We spent it with family. Real, messy, beautiful family. Kids laughing, plates piled high with food we’d been looking forward to for weeks, and conversations that flowed easily because no one was rushing off to the next thing. Time slowed down in a way it rarely does.

There was something incredibly special about being present this year. Phones stayed mostly out of sight. Expectations were low, but gratitude was high. We didn’t try to make the day perfect we just let it be. And somehow, that made it perfect anyway.

The kids were wide-eyed and excited, not because of how much they got, but because of who they were with. Watching them play, eat too much, and soak up the attention from grandparents and relatives was one of those quiet parenting moments you don’t forget. The kind you tuck away for harder days.

I found myself feeling deeply thankful for health, for connection, for a year that taught us a lot (even when it was uncomfortable), and for the simple privilege of sitting around a table with people who love each other. Not everyone gets that, and it didn’t go unnoticed.

This Christmas reminded me that magic doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from slowing down. From saying yes to togetherness and no to pressure. From choosing presence over perfection.

As the year wraps up, I’m carrying that feeling with me – the warmth, the gratitude, the reminder that the best moments are often the simplest ones.

If this is what Christmas can be, I’ll happily take this version every year.
